Mom has been purchasing paintings by Paul Buxman. He works from Kingsburg, CA, south of Fresno and depicts the Central Valley, where Mom grew up.

A Dansk Childhood

My mom has had these Dansk utensils for my entire life. They figure large in my psyche. These are the spoons I ate Captain Crunch with while watching the Smurfs. Only recently did it strike me that my first impressions of utensils were from Aggressive Scandanavian Design. I'm back in New York, now, of course, but I still have a few photos to post in the queue from California. My work-week life is pretty boring and I usually only take photos on weekends.

Steve

I met up with my old friend from High School, Steve, at his apartment near Dolores Park in San Francisco. We had an enjoyable coffee catching up on old acquaintances from High School.

Sam

Later I met up with Sam, recently of New York and now of El Cerrito, for tacos in the Mission District. We then bar-hopped & played pinball. I did not get a chance to ride on Sam's motorcycle.

Monte Bello Preserve

I can't visit Northern California without going for a short hike in Monte Bello Preserve, an open space park at the top of Page Mill Road in the hills above Palo Alto. September isn't the best month to visit. It hasn't rained since April and the grass has passed from gold to a dull brown. Still, it's beautiful.

Mom's Spanish Inspriration

Last year Mom and I went to Spain and she was inspired by the art we saw. She's standing on a small patio of mosaic tiles that she constructed in the style of Antonin Gaudi's Parque Guell in Barcelona.
